When we talk about Montalcino the first word that springs up in mind is Wine. Yes it is best known for wines. Montalcino, the mediaeval town of Sienna, is home to the Brunello vineyards that produce the famous wine of the same name from Sangiovese Grosso grapes. "Brunello", developed by Ferruccio Biondi Santi a little more than a century ago, and almost immediately drew the attention of connoisseurs for its excellence. Brunello is produced exclusively within the Montalcino territory, and only from Sangioveto Grosso grapes, a Sangiovese clone perfectly suited to local conditions.
